i Pad sales, according to a projection made by Brian White, an analyst at Ticonderoga Securities, should top 45 million units in 2011. i Pad sales have increased almost every month since its release in April this year. i Pad sales to date are at least 7.2 million according to Apple’s 4Q results.
Whether or not White’s projection includes the new i Pad, (iPad 2.0?) is not clear. He also postulates that the new i Pad will feature a 7 inch display, mini-USB, a camera, and 128GB of storage. Apple products like the i Pad are famous for generating prophetic-like visions, and whether or not the new i Pad will ship with updated features to these specifications will most likely not have that much of an impact on Apple’s sales numbers. Between the i Pad, i Phone, and i Pod touch, the Cupertino-based company will continue to vie for the number one slot in touch-screen based computing unhindered.
Currently, Apple holds roughly 95% of the tablet market. The touch-based competition has much ground to make up if its to compete with the i Pad.
