Brandon Spikes, the rookie linebacker for the New England Patriots, has been suspended four games by the NFL for an infraction of the league’s banned substance policy.
“I’ve been contacted by the NFL and informed that I will be suspended four games for the detection of an illegal substance in a drug test,” Spikes said in a statement. “The substance was a medication that I should have gotten clarification on before taking. It was not a performance enhancer or an illegal drug. The integrity of the game is very important to me. I understand the league’s ruling and apologize to my teammates, the fans and the Patriots organization for this mistake.”
Spikes will not appeal the suspension.
Because he’s not appealing, Spikes will be eligible to return on January 3, the day after the team’s regular season’s last game.

With Brett Favre injured his amazing NFL starting game streak is in Jeopardy. Most Minnesota Vikings fans have notice that Tavaris Jackson is a great young quarterback but is his experience enough to get the Vikings to the playoffs?
Leslie Frazier has stated that it all depends on Brett’s physical health on game day and will not let the team suffer to help Brett Favre maintain his Game Streak. He also stated that Brett is a team player and would feel the same way not letting his pride get in the way of the vikings success.
Today ESPN commentator says that even though he is a fan of Brett Favre he is getting tired of wondering what injury we have to worry about week in and week out with Favre. He says its time for Brett to sit out and let the healthy Tavaris Jackson take a shot at it.
Tavaris jackson Did throw 3 interceptions last week but that seems to be overlooked due to the win. These mistakes cant be forgotten though because next time it can be a game deciding factor.
Should Brett Favre Sit out this week?

The Colts vs. Titans in week 14 should be an interesting match up.
Peyton Manning lately has been in one of those slumps. The Colts have virtually no run game, are thrashed up and down all over the place, and can’t seem to find their rhythm on either offense or defense.
The Titans barely have a leg to stand on, losing at home last week scoring 6 points and two weeks ago getting shut out.
Tonights game will feature two desperate teams ready to try for a new start, but it’s anyone’s guess whether or not they will be able to step up and give a good performance.
If I had to put my money on it, which I won’t, then I’d pick Indy by 10 points, but in a fairly mediocre viewing experience.
Here’s hoping for a night that will prove me wrong.
What do you think?
Will the Titans be able to step it up and give Indy a run?

Josh McDaniels, coach of the Denver Broncos has been fired. McDaniels was called to Pat Bowlen’ office (the owner of the Denver Broncos) and was expediently fired. “In the end, I was not satisfied with the results and the direction this team was headed,” said Bowlen.
As if the performance on the field wasn’t bad enough (3-9) the escapades off the field were just as bad.
Josh McDaniels’ biggest blunder might have been the hiring of videographer Steve Scarnecchia, who violated league rules by videotaping a San Francisco 49ers practice in London on Oct. 30. McDaniels was fined $50,000 by the NFL for failing to report the infraction, and the Denver Broncos paid the price.
Scarnecchia was fired Nov. 27.
Although the league’s investigation determined that McDaniels wasn’t aware of the video violation before it was brought to him, he was fined for not saying anything about it.
So, with the bad blood seemingly out of the Broncos organization, will they be able to revitalize themselves into a respectable position? Perhaps not this season, but what about next season?
Will the Broncos be able to step it up next season?

Ben Roethlisberger broke his nose in Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. Despite the pain, he kept on playing. He was scheduled to undergo surgery today to fix the broken nose, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
But he’ll be back on the field this weekend, according to the paper.
It usually takes about four weeks for a broken nose to fully heal, so Roethlisberger will have to be extra careful to not injure his broken nose further. Although, you wouldn’t have known he was playing with a broken nose the way he played during the third quarter. Blood was visible in some shots during the game, but most people assumed a bloody nose or perhaps the weather affected it.
Ben Roethlisberger’s nose will most likely be just fine, according to doctors. It will take far more than a broken nose to stop the quarterback giant of the Steelers from reaching his goal of a Super Bowl championship.
Don Meredith of the Dallas Cowboys has passed away at age 72.
Courtesy of Yahoo News:
Don Meredith, the man who was instrumental in the building of two great NFL traditions, died on Sunday at the age of 72.
The former quarterback was the first true star of America’s Team, the Dallas Cowboys, and then became a full-fledged national star when he joined a fledgling Monday Night Football broadcast in 1970.
Meredith’s wife said her husband suffered a brain hemorrhage and slipped into a coma. She and her daughter were at Meredith’s side when he died.
Dandy Don, as he was known throughout his two careers, was drafted in the third-round of the 1960 NFL draft by the Chicago Bears, but was traded to the expansion Dallas Cowboys for draft picks. In 1965, he won the team’s starting quarterback job and led the team to its first winning season the year after. He was eventually named NFL Player of the Year. In both 1966 and 1967, Meredith and the Cowboys advanced to the NFL Championship Game but would lose to Vince Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers.
Following his football career, Meredith became a color commentator for ABC’s Monday Night Football beginning in 1970. He left for three seasons (1974 to 1976) to work with Curt Gowdy at NBC, then returned to MNF partners Frank Gifford and Howard Cosell. His approach to color commentary was light-hearted and folksy, in contrast to Cosell’s detailed and intellectual analysis and Gifford’s rather ponderous play-by-play technique. He was known for singing “Turn out the lights, the party’s over” at the time the game was apparently decided.
Army Vs. Navy airs 2:30 pm ET on CBS, and we want your predictions for a winner in what is sure to be a competitive game.
The Navy Midshipmen have a great record of 9-3 headed into next weekend’s game, and not without their own accolades. Navy’s Ricky Dobbs moved into fifth place on the rushing-touchdowns-for-a-quarterback list with three rushing touchdowns Saturday. He now has 48 for his career. Navy also crushed East Carolina 76-35 recently, setting a record in the club’s 131 year history.
The Army Black Knights have a mediocre record of 6-5 and recently were invited to their first bowl game in 14 years. They will face the Mustangs in the 2010 Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl played at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
About the most exciting thing about Army this year has been their game at Yankee Stadium. So, yeah, there’s that.
So, in the tradition of great rivalry games, will Army be able to rise to the occasion, or will Navy continue to ride the wave of momentum and deliver another crushing victory?
Will Army Deliver The Upset Against Navy?
